Burning xbox 360 backups with ImgBurn
Posted on February 19th, 2007 at 11:03 am by Jason@TeamXmods

Imgburn is very similar to DVDdecrypter but for xbox 360 backups I think ImgBurn is better. ImgBurn and CloneCd are the best programs available for burning xbox360 backups. If you dont have ImgBurn you can Download it Here. “XboxBackupCreator” and “Schtrom360Xtract” are also great and recommended for people with Samsung SH-D162C keron flashed drives.

If your just burning .iso .dvd files use ImgBurn. It has all the features you need built in and works extraordinarily well. Follow these steps exactly and you wont waste any of your expensive dvd+r dl discs.

Before you do anything Check and See if you have your booktype on your burner set to Dvd-rom. Find a Dvd DL Burner (some drives come with booktype set already).

1. Open .dvd file in a text editor.

2. Copy layerbreak.

3. Open ImgBurn.

4. Goto Tools -> Settings…

5. Goto the Write tab.

6. Change Layer Break to User Specified and paste the layerbreak in the Sectors in L0: box.

7. Save the settings and delete the LayerBreak=… line from your .dvd file and then save.

Note!!! deleting layerbreak is no longer required(most people can skip this).

8. Return to ImgBurn and click the Open icon. Select your .dvd file. Make sure verify is on! (optional)

Note!!! If verify is selected it will take a lot longer to finish. Only use verify for troubleshooting.

9. Select your dvd burner. (Ensure booktype is set to DVD-ROM!).

10. Change write speed to 2x/2.4x.

11. Insert DVD+R DL disc and burn! burn write

This guy is the real deal! If he says it, it’s got to be true. The first time I tried IMG Burn I got a “power calibration” error. Tried it with Jason’s directions and it worked like a charm! Thanks broseph!

will soon test my first disc ..
just curious ..
why do I need to copy the Layerbreak and then delete it from the dvd file?
as far as I can tell Imgburn sets this up ok itself..

Your right .DVD files don’t even need the layer break edited.
Just burn .dvd files with imgburn and your good to go.

Encase its not a .dvd file that is how its done though. :)

Is anything else required to burn Xbox 360 games to DVD-R’s?

Comment by Unknown — April 27, 2008 @ 4:27 pm

You need DVD +R DL discs if your trying to burn xbox 360 backups.

What if your iso file is under 4GB? I have an iso that I am trying to back up and it is less than 4GB. ImgBurn won’t let me burn it because I can’t set the layer break to 1913760.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

I use Verbatim, even tho they aren’t as good as they used to be.

Try and get Made in Singapore(MIS).

Do I need to flash my Xbox360 in order to play Xbox360 backups?

Comment by bigndpants — October 26, 2008 @ 10:17 pm

@ bigndpants

No you don’t necessarily need to flash your xbox360 to play backups. If you place your xbox360 near a new lcd hdtv some can automatically mod/flash it for you. Start saving your money. Only the larger 37inch sizes and above lcd screens have enough potential energy to power mod flash a 360 without opening it up and flashing it conventionally. XD

For more info on modding the 360 check the tutorials section on teamxmods.com home

Great guide!

Just to make sure before I try this out on my expensive Verbatim.

I still need to copy the layer break into IMGburn and deleting the layer break from the .dvd file is not necessary?

Comment by Nexus — November 18, 2008 @ 4:22 pm

@ Nexus

Just copy the layer break and put it into img burn as directed. You don’t need to delete it, but if you do its still ok.

Cheers*
