Replace Hitachi xbox360 Drive w/ Samsung Tutorial

If you have your Hitachi drive key then the process is fairly textbook and is all covered in the Textbook.2008.pdf.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

TUTORIAL:

So make sure you have the latest firmware, and the latest Firmware toolbox 4.6, and a copy of iPrep (or whatever flashing method you prefer).

The basic steps are:

1) When you download Samsung iXtreme1.4 there will be 4 folders each with a different drive speed, 12x is stock standard speed, 12x will run games quicker but the drive will be louder, lower speeds will do the opposite. Choose which speed you want, then in a separate folder will be the firmware .bin file.

2) Copy this file to your computer, and open it in Maximus Firmware Toolbox 4.6 - It should state that it is the Samsung firmware.

3) Copy your key into the box in Firmware toolbox (replacing the Fs) and press Replace Key.

4) Go to Tools > Spoof Firmware choose your Hitachi drive-rom version - ROM 0059, then press Apply Spoof.

5) Now you have updated the bin file with the relevant information (you do not need to save the firmware or anything it will automatically update itself when you change it) - Using the same file you copied to your computer (the one we just edited) use iPrep with mktflash or whatever to flash to the Samsung drive.

6) Done

KEEP A COPY OF YOUR BIN UNTOUCHED FOR A BACKUP ENCASE ALL FAILS!

FLASHING: Faq and Q’s

Question?
1. Downloaded Samsung IXtreme 1.4, and Iprep, and Toolbox 4.6

2. I opened the Samsung IXtreme 1.4 folder with toolbox, and clicked on the 12x bin file.

3. I replaced the key(fffffffff’s) with my original Hitachi key, and clicked on “Replace key” then I applied the spoof with the Hitachi 59.

4. I try to use iprep and get lost. I have textbook, and what my main problem is, I open Iprep and rar up the IXtreme 1.4 folder to use, and it skips the 12x. I then repeat the steps and do it on 8x. It now skips that. What did I do wrong? Oh and I have a usb flash drive, and after I do iprep right what do I put on the flash drive? I don’t see anywhere on what it tells you to do with that.
This is really urgent, My box has been broke for about 3 months…I really want to play and if someone can give me complete instructions on how to work with iprep that would be great! I looked at textbook, and it’s not helping me out at al

Answer.
Just use iPrep as normal to create your bootable USB drive (ie with the proper iXtreme archive, not the modified one you made)
Rename your spoofed 12x FW as Sam-CFW.bin and copy it into Backups\1234567\12345 on your USB.
Now just follow the directions for flashing (you don’t need to dump the FW first since you already made the hacked FW)
just use fsam(flash Samsungs) no need for RSam(read Samsung).

note: The 1234567\12345 can be any numbers. They are for distinguishing one backup from another only.

Again(reiterated):

In backups - Create a folder called 1234567

Inside backups/1234567/
Create a folder 12345
Inside that, place your spoofed firmware, make sure its called Sam-CFW.bin
Then boot, use
FSAM 1234567 12345
To flash the spoofed firmware

Finished…Time to test with a backup :)

(tips)
open key.bin with a hex editor to get the key

all instructions based on iPrep 006

Hi, I’m a complete freekin’ noob when it comes to this stuff and I decided it was time to get my feet wet. I got a 360 from a guy for free because it was broken… Well the Hitachi drive that was in it would play CD’s,/DVD but no games. So I put a Toshiba drive in it.. I have no clue where to go from, I’m stuck with the same problem.. i’ve been looking everywhere, I’m limited with my abilities since I’m broke and only have a laptop that does not burn DVDs and no SATA, so If someone could break it down for me it would be greatly appreciated!!

my email is: Godzproblem@hotmail.com
